MIDDLE SECTION ACTIVITIES FOR 2011
11 to 13 March 2011	Teachers Orientation program. All the teachers and the staff members reported three days in advance from the winter holiday and attended two days of orientation and one day class preparation. Beside the orientation, they attended the respective Section meeting cum Department meeting in preparation for the first academic session 2011
14 March 2011	All the staff members and the class VIII students attended the School Opening Day Function at the school auditorium.
15 Mar 2011	A fresh list of most frequently used English words for class VI to VIII was prepared, printed and issued to each and every students so that they can equally compete in Middle School Spelling Bee Contest 2011.
16 March 2011	Registration for Middle School Idol 2011 was done. About 153 students registered for the Tibetan song singing competition.
17 March 2011	Inter-class Boys and girls Basket Ball practice was started.
22 Mar 2011	To implement HH The Dalai Lamas wishes and as a follow up measure to EDC resolution, Tibetan Dialectic subject was introduced in our academic curriculum. Besides having one period a week for each class, 7th period is allotted for dialectic period so that every one will get a lions share in practicing dialects under the close supervision of the two subject teachers
24 March 2011	The school observed The World TB Day. The school Health Committee displayed posters and pamphlets on the school notice board. Dr Yangzom and nurse Tsering Paldon from Delek Hospital gave talk on TB symptoms and the treatment to the students and the staff members at the school auditorium in the evening.
24-28 March 2011	Miss Tenzin Dolma, a Social Science teacher and Mr Tenzin Jigme, a Tibetan teacher attended five days of workshop at The Institute of Buddhist dialectics, Sahra on Tibetan history and how to teach Social Sciences in Tibetan language.
26 Mar 2011	Annual School Spring Fete was held. Many local parents, guardians, teachers and ex student came to lend support and helped in making this annual event a grand success. The entire proceed of the day was given to the school Games Committee for the purchase of sport uniforms, refreshments, games items etc
28 March 2011	English reading activity entitled Project Read was observed beginning from 16th March Apr till the end of August. This is an exercise to acquire reading habit and to bring improvement in their reading skill. Based on draw of lots, minimum 3 students from any class have to come and read before the morning assembly on daily basis for five to ten minutes.
30 Mar 2011	Monthly Teachers meeting was held.
04 April 2011	To coincide with the World Disaster Day The entire school staff members and the students participated in mock earthquake drill conducted by DIIR in the morning.
04 Apr -21 Apr 11	?Inter Class Boys and Girls Basket Ball Tournament started on league cum knock out basis.
05 Apr 2011	To help weaker students in their difficult subjects, a group of academically sound students were asked to help the weaker students on a voluntary basis after the evening classes are over. The said peer teaching started from 2nd April till date The duration of the peer teaching was one hour under the direct supervision of school career counselor. Since it is very helpful and effective, we made it a year long program. 56 students are involved in this program.
06 Apr 2011	The entire staff members and the class XII students attended a Sangsol (a barley prayer offering) in the morning at the school temple.
07th April 2011	Under the initiative and direction of school Health Committee, we observed World Health Day on 7th April 08. Keeping in view the growing cases of substance abuse in our community, it was felt necessary to create awareness and educate our children about the ill effects and risk factors of the substance abuse. To this end, the school organized poster writing competition on various themes like Say No to Drugs, Smoking and Chewing tobacco is injurious to health, Save our mother earth. A brief talk on the importance of keeping good health by the school Health Committee member followed by area cleaning and water tank cleaning in the evening.
08 Apr 2011	VIII D gave a power point presentation on the topic The Election of Chief Kalon. ?18 students have participated in it.
09 Apr 2011	First round of Middle School Idol ( Dhen yang Phul jung ) was held. About 154 students voluntarily participated in the competition. 60 students were later selected for second round of the said competition
11 Apr 2011	First English Spelling Bee test was conducted. About 562 students could participate in it.??
12 Apr 2011	Class VIII English debate was held at Dekyi Tsering in the evening on the topic That the parents are responsible for their childrens success. Tenzin Kunga from VIII D was declared the best debater.
11 Apr 2011	18 Boys were selected for Under 14 Boys Soccer Team. They underwent serious practice under the watchful eyes of Mr Lobsang Norbu for almost two and half month every evening from 4.30 to 5.30.
12 Apr 2011	To create scientific temperament and interest in Science, a presentation entitled You Think You are the Scientist was introduced /started by Middle School Science Department members during the morning assembly. This said program will take place every Tuesday during the morning assembly for 20 minutes.
15 Apr 2011	20 girls were selected for school band group. Every evening they are taught how to play flute and beat drum under the watchful eyes of Mr Tsewang, the school band master.
15 Apr 2011	Based on the students aptitude, skill and interest, 36 different clubs were formed to teach different life skills. The club members will meet for one hour every Saturday in the morning and the average size of the club is reduced to 16 students each so that the respective teachers can give individual attention. At the end of the year, the school will observe Club Day where each club have to put up an exhibition and give presentation on their newly acquitted skill.
16 Apr 2011	Class VIII S gave a power point presentation on The life achievements of some eminent Tibetan authors and poets.
16 Apr 2011	The school Photography Club attended one week workshop every evening on how to develop, print and take pictures in black and white film. Mr Martino and Linda from Italy were the instructor. As a follow up, the school put up a photo exhibition at McleogGang TCV Day School.
18 Apr 2011	16 Boys were also selected for Under 12 Boys Boys Soccer Team. They practice soccer every evening with Under 14 Boys Soccer Team. Mr Lobsang Norbu is the Manager cum Coach of the team.
18 Apr 2011	The second round of the English Spelling Bee was conducted during the morning study hour
20 Apr 2011	To achieve firm grounding and give a good beginning, The Institute of Buddhist School of Dialect, Dharamsala deputed 16 monks to teach and upgrade Buddhist dialects to our school for one month from 22 Apr to 20 May ( one hour a day every evening). As a follow up measure each class have to compete with other class on every Thursday during the morning assembly and every 7th period. We also conducted inter class dialectic contest for grade VI, VII and VIII . About 482 students were involved in it.
21 Apr 11	Final of the inter class VI Boys and Girls Basket Ball Tournament started and VI B Girls team and VI P Boys team won the trophy.
22 Apr 2011	Final of the class VII Boys and Girls Basket Ball tournament was held in the evening
23 Apr 2011	Class VIII B put up a power point presentation during the morning assembly on the topic How to make offering before the altar, do proper prostration and circumambulation in and around the temple 20 students actively participated in the presentation
23 Apr 2011	Final of the Class VIII Boys and Girls Basket Ball Competition as held
25 Apr 2011	Two of our English teacher, Mrs Sherap Tsomo and Miss Lobsang Dolkar, attended five days of >English workshop in New Delhi along with 27 English teachers from other Tibetan schools on how to teach interactive English and child centered methodology
25 Apr 2011	Third round of the English Spelling Bee was held during the morning study hour.
25 - 30 Apr 2011	Inter Class Handball Practice started.
26 Apr 2011	Second round of Science Quiz entitled YTYS was held during the morning assembly. It was for class VIII students only. Pema Sangpo from VIII D walked away with a cash prize of Rs 150/ and YTYS title.
30 Apr 2011	IVth round of English Spelling Bee was held during the morning self study hour.
30 Apr 2011	Class VIII P gave a power point presentation during the morning assembly on the topic Some famous tourist places in Tibet 20 students participated in the presentation.
02 May 2011	Inter class Handball tournament on league cum knock out basis started and continued till 28 May 2011 ( for 26 days ) from 4.30 to 6.PM every evening
06 May 2011	Vth round of the English Spelling Bee was conducted in the morning.
10 May 2011	Third round of Science Quiz entitled YTYS was held during the morning assembly for class VII only. Miss Tsultrim Dolma from VII walk away with a cash prize of Rs 150/ and YTYS title.
10 May 2011	Inter Class English Elocution was held on 10 May 2011 at Dekyi Tsering Hall. The contest consist of three categories i,e poetry recitation, dramatic extract and speech delivery. The contest was very stiff and we could involve many students in it
13 May 2011	VIth round of the English Spelling Bee was held during the morning self study hour in order to select top 50 super spellers of Middle Section.
14 May 2011	Class VIII G gave a power point presentation during the morning assembly on the topic entitled HH The Dalai Lamas address to the members of Tibetan Assembly during the 2nd session of 14th Tibetan Assembly in the month of Mar 2011. 12 girls and 8 boys participated in the presentation.
21 May 2011	Class VII D put up a power point presentation during the morning assembly on the topic entitled Profiles of newly elected Chief Kalon and members of the Tibetan Assembly
21 May 2011	Fourth round of Middle school YTYS was held in the morning assembly
23 May 2011	Class VIII Tibetan Debate on the topic That it has benefited many students in improving Tibetan language and literature with the introduction of Tibetanization program till grade V Tenzin Sangpo Nubgya from VIII D was declared the best debater.
24 May 2011	Fourth round of Science Quiz entitled YTYS was held during the morning assembly for class VI. The response was awesome.
25 May 2011	VIIth round of English Spelling Bee was conducted in the morning to select top 30 Middle School Super Spellers. They were issued additional spelling list containing 540 most difficult and high frequency English words
28 May 2011	Class VII S gave a power point presentation during the morning assembly on the topic entitled How to abstain from 10 Non Virtuous Conduct 15 students participated in the presentation.
24 May 2011	Inter Section Staff Basket Ball tournament was held.
30 May 2010	Final of the Inter class Hand Ball tournament was held.
30 May 2011	Tibetan Elocution was held at Dekyi Tsering hall. The contest consists of three category i.e, poetry recitation, speech delivery and dramatic extract.
31 May 2011	World Substance Abuse Day was observed. The school Health Committee and Shenphen Group gave a power point presentation on Smoking and its effects.
13 June 2011	Hero�s of Tibet is the topic which class VII B had chosen for their presentation. Students got the chance to see the faces of the martyrs on the screen and learn about their sacrifice.
18 June 2011	Class VII Presentation was about various hats of Tibet. The entire audience learn a great deal about the topic.
25 June 2011	A skit entitled Milarepa was staged by class VII students at the morning assembly.
18 July 2011	Middle Section Spelling Bee: There were top ten finalist, well prepared for the contest. All the contestants were rewarded with a gift hamper and cash prizes. The best speller walked away with Rs. 1000.
2 July 2011	Modern Tibetan English terminology was the topic for class VII D, presentation. A number of Tibetan terms were familiarized.
8 July 2011	Class VI S students, chose Nyonpai Dhon as a topic for their presentation
16 July 2011	The Tibetan NGOs, was the topic for class VI B presentation. Students were enlightened about the various organizations who are serving the society.
23 July 2011	It was class VI P� turn to put up presentation. They talked about the Auspicious Symbols of Tibet.
30 july 2011	Class VI G students talked on Tibetan Holly Pills.
4 August 2011	First round of Dakcha Mongsel ( Spelling Bee): Spelling Test was started with the aim of improving spelling and enrich their vocabulary. A list of high frequency words were distributed ten days a head of every round. Every student sat for the test at different venues; Class VI at new hall, Class VIII at old Hall and Class VII at the section assembly ground.
16 August 2011	Project Read in Tibetan began and would be continued till December. The program aimed to acquire students reading habit.
20 August 2011	Potala is the topic which class VI K chose for their presentation. The images they have on the screen made the presentation even more informative.
28 August 2011	Under fourteen Soccer Match was played between our school and CST Chauntra. The visiting team won the match by 3-1.
29 August 2011	Second round of Dakcha Mongsel was conducted
3 September 2011	Parent Teachers Meeting: The parents, relatives and local guidance residing in and around Dharamsala were invited to the meeting. The meeting began at 9.30am, with a welcome note and a brief information on the grading system which is introduced by CBSE recently.
3 September 2011	There was An Art contest for the Art club members, initiated by an ex-student named Bhuchung D. Sonam, who is a poet and a writer.
6 September 2011	TCV Tibetan Creative Writing was conducted by the Head Office. Entire middle school students participated.
7 September 2011	TCV English Creative Writing was conducted by the same. Every student took part in it.
9 September 2011	It was the day for the third round of Dakcha Mongsel.
4-10 September 2011	Miss Lobsang Dolkar attended an English Writing Workshop at Delhi US Embassy School for five days.
11 September 2011	51 students prepared wedding cards to wish our sponsor Aurora and Stefano, on their wedding.
12-16 September 2011	Two computer teachers of our section attended a five day workshop which was conducted by Head Office.
13 September 2011	Class VII Riglam: It was the day for the class VII riglam enthusiast to debate. There were eight students who managed to reach the final.
18 September 2011	The school under fourteen soccer team left for TCV Chauntra. Our team won the match by big margin.
22 September 2011	Career Art Competition: To create awareness about the career choice among themselves, an art competition was conducted by the section career counselor, on the theme My Self at Work Fifteen Years from Now.
26 September 2011	The Tibetan teachers conducted the fourth round of Dhakcha Mongsel.
28 September 2011	Class VI Riglam Contest: There was riglam competition between students of class six. Ten best students were there for the final contest, representing their class. The contestant with best argument was rewarded.
29 September 2011	Class VIII Riglam competitors rocked the stage with brilliant arguments. The best ones were rewarded.
1 October 2011	Preliminary Round for Middle Idol: After several selection rounds, ten talented singers were chosen. Those ten singers were trained for the preliminary round from which only six contestants were qualified to compete for the title Middle Idol 2011.
3 October 2011	Ghandhi Jayanti Program: An Art contest on Ghandhi�s portrait was held on the eve of Ghandhi Jayanti. 47 students participated.
10 October 2011	A separate class weaker students: A class with a size of ten extremely weak students were set aside, in order to make them strong academically.
10 October 2011	The fifth found of Dhakcha Mongsel was conducted.
11 october 2011	Two Tibetan teachers; Mr. Tenzin Donyoe and Rev. Tsering Khando left for a five day workshop on Tibetan Language at Sara
